Academics

Curriculum

Hanger Hall’s curriculum reflects our school’s emphasis on strong academics, creativity and personal growth. As an independent middle school, our program covers all requirements of the state of North Carolina plus much, much more. Students experience a wide variety of learning opportunities through hands-on projects, field trips, and dramatic presentations.  All students participate in service learning projects throughout the community.

In everything from athletics to writing, we emphasize strength and independence for our middle school girls. Our students study languages all three years along with art, drama, and music.  Students learn math and science in the classroom and then apply that knowledge outside. Hanger Hall regularly participates in the MathCounts competition and the North Carolina High School Math Competition. Field trips and class trips greatly enhance classroom learning.  Our challenging academic program includes:
Humanities (history, geography, literature and writing)
Grammar
Science (including lab experiences)
Math (pre algebra, algebra)
World language (French or Spanish)
Technology
Athletics
Art
Music
Drama
With our proximity to the Weaver Boulevard Greenway and the UNC Asheville campus, our students spend many clear days outside. And with such small class sizes, everyone gets the attention they need.
