You may know this title from Howard Hanger’s book (co-authored by Vicki Garlock) “A Precious Window of Time.” The title carries many meanings such as the one in the book referring to the middle school years and the brief interlude of time during which a child is developing her sense of self. A “Precious Window of Time” may also refer to a finite amount of time to accomplish greatness or to meet a goal. Today we use the phrase “A Precious Window of Time” as the name of our initiative to lay down roots at 64 Weaver Boulevard.
As we draw nearer to the 15th school year of Hanger Hall (2014-2015), a milestone worthy of great celebration, we are now poised to meet one of our greatest strategic objectives; a permanent home for Hanger Hall!
We have been very fortunate to have current and past Hanger Hall parents, with the skills and knowledge required to guide us during this process, willing to gift their time and expertise for the benefit of our girls, teachers, and community. These parents are all contributing their services as is our neighbor, Harlow Brown (a civil engineer!)
Our effort, “A Precious Window of Time,” is the 90 day period we have to raise our $300,000 down payment as required by the bank. This is all that is required for Hanger Hall to grow roots in celebration of its 15th anniversary and to establish a lasting presence in Asheville!
Our committee is chaired by Rachel Fagan and includes Ann and Bill Smith, Lynn Penny, Jo Ikelheimer, Lisa Yoffee, Laura Stone, Jen Tracy, and Danette Lowery.
