Marissa Green

Marissa Green

University of Florida, Bachelor of Science in Advertising

Marissa moved  in 2008 from the West Coast of Florida to Asheville, with her husband and then infant daughter, Molly, now a seventh grader at Hanger Hall. As Marissa’s family grew so did her desire to support the school communities in which her three children attend. Having had the opportunity to serve on the Hanger Hall Head of School Search Committee last year deepened Marissa’s connection to the Hanger Hall community and her desire to support the school when it has been needed. Prior to making the decision to be the primary caretaker of their children after moving to Asheville, Marissa worked for the YMCA of St. Petersburg as the Director of  Marketing and then switched careers to teach third grade to students at a Title I school in an underserved neighborhood.

Marissa is an active member in her children’s school communities having served on the Friends of the Library committee member for six years and Chair of Carolina Day School’s Book Drive for three of those years. Marissa can also be found volunteering in the classroom as she still has a passion for teaching math to elementary aged students.  Marssia learned about the One Neighborhood program in the River Arts District, and became involved with OpenDoors of Asheville’s annual fundraiser, The Art Affair, in 2014.  Marissa’s participation on the sponsorship committee for that event ultimately led to an invitation to join their Board of Directors in December 2017. She has enjoyed participating at the board level and engaging with the community to support the mission of OpenDoors of Asheville.

In addition to volunteering for OpenDoors of Asheville and at her children’s schools, Marissa enjoys spending time with friends and family, hiking in and around WNC, going running as well as reading a good book.

Hanger Hall COVID-19 Updates

Hanger Hall Health & Safety

As a small school with small class sizes , we are confident in our capability to implement all health and safety recommendations to ensure a safe reopening, given the current guidance received from federal, state, and local levels of government.  Hanger Hall’s highest priority is the health and safety of our students, families, faculty and staff.

Our efforts to prepare for the upcoming school year is led by Hanger Hall’s leadership team under the guidance of a COVID-19 task force, comprised of Hanger Hall Staff, Board Members and Parent Volunteers who are in the Healthcare Field.  To support this priority, safety protocols will be in place for the 2020-21 school year.

This team is working over the summer to develop a variety of mitigation measures that will be implemented in classrooms, along with various contingency models so that Hanger Hall is prepared to support any COVID-!( related scenario within our school community.

Please visit this page regularly to receive additional communication related to school reopening that will be shared over the coming weeks.

One of the guiding principles in the development of Hanger Hall’s plan has always been to closely adhere to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for the reopening of schools as well as public health guidance issued by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. You can find these health and safety protocols in our handbook and updates will be made here.
