My oldest daughter let me know she was going to Hanger Hall early in her fifth grade year. Recognizing the opportunity of a single sex middle school presented, everything quickly fell into place and the Hanger Hall adventure kicked off. The school welcomed our entire family and before long I realized the car line was the place to be each afternoon. In the fall of my daughter’s seventh grade year, I was asked to join the Board of Directors. My twenty-five plus years of experience as a trust and estates and corporate attorney with McGuire, Wood & Bessette, P.A. in Asheville and other leadership experiences allowed me to contribute to the Board and the school in many ways.
I served as President of the Board for the 2018-2019 fiscal year. In addition to contributing to the leadership of the school, serving on the Board strengthens my relationships with the school’s faculty and staff and gives me a birds eye view of symphony played each day as students learn and interact with the faculty, staff and each other. Prior to arriving in Asheville I attended the University of North Carolina (J.D., 1991) and Emory University (B.B.A., 1987). I am admitted to the North Carolina Bar (1991), a N.C. State Bar Board Certified Specialist in Estate Planning and Probate Law (1998) and a certified Public Accountant, North Carolina.
Beyond Hanger Hall and my office you may find me spending time with my two daughters, on my bike or at Lake Fontana.
