Participation in athletics (physical education) at Hanger Hall promotes healthy and positive habits that benefit young women throughout their lives. By engaging in athletics, students develop key values such as teamwork, discipline, resilience, sportsmanship, personal excellence, courage, humility, grace under pressure, and respect for others.
Our athletics program provides each student with an opportunity to work together, compete, and exercise in a healthy team environment. It teaches both fitness and self-empowerment. The girls run, play games, create their own games, learn exercise techniques, try out different sports and have fun. We encourage participation at all skills levels and aspire to encourage a lifelong love of exercise.
In addition to the physical components of the athletics curriculum, we talk with the girls about concepts such as body image, making healthy choices, and managing stress.
Each of these combined elements–the physical and the emotional–ccontribute to a well-balanced athletics program. It is a program designed specifically for middle-school girls.
