Welcome to Hanger Hall!

Hanger Hall opened its doors in the fall of 1999 after a two-year research endeavor lead by our founder, Howard Hanger. Since its first day of opening, Hanger Hall has been focused on providing a rich and nurturing setting in which young women may begin to discover and take pride in who they are and who they are becoming. That kind of discovery happens best in community, where people know each other, respect each other and encourage each other.

Hanger Hall is a unique community. We are one of fewer than ten schools in the United States devoted solely to middle school girls. We feel that this emerging time of life merits extraordinary attention; and it takes a community of parents, teachers, friends and family to give what is needed.  Our Middle School community is just that, a community of learners who share a love of learning and a willingness to discover new ideas. These experiences and the guidance provided by our faculty help to sharpen the skills necessary for success, both at Hanger Hall and beyond. Students use real-world issues to develop and hone the key skills of academic literacy in order to become thoughtful, creative, and collaborative thinkers and doers. Their experiences here prepare them for positions of leadership in the 21st century.

From the moment you walk in the door you will feel the genuine warmth the whole school exudes.  We welcome the chance to meet your daughter, your family and to introduce our community to you. Take a tour of our website, and please do not hesitate to call or come by for a visit. I trust that you will soon discover that what sets Hanger Hall apart are our students, our community, our faculty, and most importantly, our focus on nurturing the whole child.

Warmly,

Jennifer Schoolfield

Hanger Hall COVID-19 Updates

Hanger Hall Health & Safety

As a small school with small class sizes , we are confident in our capability to implement all health and safety recommendations to ensure a safe reopening, given the current guidance received from federal, state, and local levels of government.  Hanger Hall’s highest priority is the health and safety of our students, families, faculty and staff.

Our efforts to prepare for the upcoming school year is led by Hanger Hall’s leadership team under the guidance of a COVID-19 task force, comprised of Hanger Hall Staff, Board Members and Parent Volunteers who are in the Healthcare Field.  To support this priority, safety protocols will be in place for the 2020-21 school year.

This team is working over the summer to develop a variety of mitigation measures that will be implemented in classrooms, along with various contingency models so that Hanger Hall is prepared to support any COVID-!( related scenario within our school community.

Please visit this page regularly to receive additional communication related to school reopening that will be shared over the coming weeks.

One of the guiding principles in the development of Hanger Hall’s plan has always been to closely adhere to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s guidelines for the reopening of schools as well as public health guidance issued by the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. You can find these health and safety protocols in our handbook and updates will be made here.
