Supporting Hanger Hall

As an independent school Hanger Hall is fully dependent upon tuition for its day-to-day operations.  The tuition paid by parents is used primarily to compensate our teachers, rent our space, provide for instructional materials, and meet our daily costs such as utilities.  In other words, tuition does not cover the full cost of educating a girl at Hanger Hall.    In addition nearly 22% of our girls receive some level of financial assistance, also funded through tuition.  Private support is very important to Hanger to provide for those programs and assistance not covered in our operating budget.

There are four areas that will greatly benefit from your tax-deductible gifts. You may have a greater interest in supporting one of these areas more than another.  The choice is yours to make!  Of course, you are welcome to support one or all areas as well.

  • The Annual Fund-gifts are used to support the school’s greatest unbudgeted needs.
  • The Sarah Patton Fund-gifts are used for faculty development and financial aid.
  • The Howard Hanger Legacy Fund-gifts are used to support the emotional development of the girls.
  • The Building Fund-gifts will be used to fund the down-payment of our own property or move to a more suitable space.

In addition to supporting a specific area within the school, your gift provides leverage for many other gifts such as those made by foundations. One of the questions most frequently asked in grant applications is “what percentage of your parents make a gift to the school?”  The amount given is less important than the number of parents contributing.

You may make a gift online using the widget found on this page, by sending a check to the school, or by gifting stock or other appreciated securities.  For more information contact Catherine McClain at cathym@hangerhall.org.   Thank you!
