You Are Invited to Attend a Hanger Hall Open House
If you are the parent of an elementary aged daughter you are likely considering options for middle or intermediate schools. Hanger Hall was established in 1999 for the sole purpose of providing an alternative to the public middle school experience. The brain development in tweens is like that of no other time. This is the stage when the prefrontal cortex goes through considerable growth and pruning. This is the time that the tasks of problem-solving, planning, thinking ahead (executive function) and the regulation of emotion are cementing. The patterns and habits developed during the middle school years are the strongest predictor of how you will act/react in your adult years.
At Hanger Hall’s core is the emotional development of the middle school girl. A rigorous academic environment coupled with a nurturing, empowering, creative, and highly personalized environment, provides each girl with the unique support she needs on her timetable. You may be familiar with buzz words and phrases such as small class size, experiential learning, social/emotional learning, growth mindset, STEM, and STEAM. All of these are the foundation upon which Hanger Hall was built 18 years ago. This model works as evidenced through the success of our more than 300 Hanger Hall alumnae!
We invite you to come and see for yourself and to hear directly from our teachers and girls about the Hanger Hall experience. Our upcoming Open Houses are Thursday, March 9th and Tuesday, April 4th at 5:30. We are now enrolling girls in grades 6th through 8th for the 2017-2018 school year. Whether you are transitioning from a traditional elementary school into 6th grade, or an intermediate school into 7th grade, you are welcome at Hanger Hall! Call us at 828-258-3600 to schedule a tour.
For more information about how the philosophy and development of Hanger Hall you may want to pick-up a copy of “A Precious Window of Time: A manual for teaching and nurturing middle school girls.” This book was written by our founder, Howard Hanger and Dr. Vicki Garlock.
