Katie Conner

Spanish Teacher, Office Manager and Admissions Coordinator

Katie Conner is beginning her sixth year as the Spanish teacher at Hanger Hall. She earned her Spanish degree from University of North Carolina Asheville.  Katie loves teaching Spanish at Hanger Hall because of the opportunity to work with students for three years in a row.  Each of Katie’s Spanish classes incorporates writing, reading, listening and speaking in Spanish.

In the Sixth grade, we study basic conversation, describing others and ourselves, verb conjugation, sports, past times and FOOD!  Students write and perform skits, learn songs and even have a blind taste test!

In the Seventh grade, we study family, weather, the home and the human body. The students create their own family tree, write and learn poetry, design and build a 3D model of their “dream home” and more.

In the Eighth grade, we study health and wellness, community, entertainment and the natural world.  Students create Public Service Announcements, build their own “city”, and create and review films. One year the eighth grade class painted a mural of Central and South America right on the classroom wall!  All grades kick off the school year by studying the geographical location of all of the Spanish speaking countries of the world and in November, we all study and celebrate El día de los muertos together.
